  • Insulation for the Harshest Conditions - 3M Type KL insulation is designed to add optimal loft, which helps to trap air in the jacket, and keep you warm and cozy. We call this jacket the "140" because it has 140 grams of insulation keeping you warm.
  • Designed in the Cold North - Being based in Minnesota, we know cold. Lots of our climbing season is spent in the dead of winter, climbing ice pillars or frozen fingers. That's we we built a burly Belay Jacket for the harshest conditions.
  • Built-In Climbing Features - Designed with a belay snap and bottom up zipper for easy belaying. Inside pockets to keep your phone battery alive, and a helmet compatible hood.
  • Keep the Warm in, and Cold Out - All IronRange Jackets have elastic toggles on the bottom, and the hood. This helps you optimize your perfect fit.

Engineered warmth without bulk. Our jacket’s insulation layer uses 3M’s high-loft Type KL synthetic insulation to deliver outstanding thermal performance in a lightweight, packable form. Because the fibers are thermally bonded into a fine matrix, Type KL traps more air and retains loft even in damp conditions — keeping you warm, dry, and agile whether you’re sending a route, belaying mid-season, or layering for alpine chill.

And because of its synthetic nature, it recovers faster when compressed (e.g., packed in a bag or clipped to a harness) and maintains performance when weather turns damp or when layering under a shell.
